I’m starting a new company with @3LAU, my best friend since college We’re making it possible for artists to share ownership in their music directly with fans and earn royalties alongside each other, sidestepping traditional middlemen It’s called Royal — royal.io/r/jd

I don’t believe in a/b testing in startups It’s a crutch for product teams, it excuses incomplete & poor thinking, and it takes all pressure off developing good judgment and customer intuition. Fine if you have millions of users, not when you need to put zeros on the dashboard.

Royal started in 2021 12.5% of hires live in San Francisco. *All* of them are currently moving to LA or Austin 50% of the team lived in the greater Bay Area previously
In Q1 2019, 39% of Stripe's hiring was outside Bay Area and Seattle. Last quarter, it was 74%. I think the rate at which tech industry is going global is still under-appreciated, and that this will be a big tailwind for the world over the next decade.

Selling out and having everything go smoothly would have been the best outcome. This is the second best outcome. People are excited. We have product-market fit. And we know exactly what we need to do to sell out and hit the best outcome next Thursday.

While today didn't go as planned, I am so proud of this team. This is what it's all about — ship, learn, iterate. We've got great artists in the pipeline. We learned today demand is certainly there. And now we can use this next week to hone in on product.

Over 40,000 requests per minute, and the traffic seems... real. Many signups and logins at once taking us down. Team discussing whether to push the release back a few mins. Will keep everyone updated on the royal discord

Thank you for the enthusiasm and patience while we sort this. Going to take more time. Will announce updated time soon. - 70% of traffic is from the US, not a typical attack profile. - No bots have minted tokens; we designed to prevent that - Very sorry! First release learnings

I don’t understand how politicizing vaccines helped anyone except media Left leaning people ignore data on the risks & evolving data on efficacy. Right leaning people are blind to the benefits and stopped trusting authority wholesale. Everyone got worse at assessing trade-offs
A partial list of COVID misinformation repeated by the US Supreme Court so far today: •100,000 children in critical care and on ventilators (Sotomayor) •Vaccine mandate would prevent 100% of US cases (Breyer) •COVID deaths are at an all-time high (Sotomayor) 1/
